Kisko dena hai? Running balance se dekho.

The cleanest answer comes from net balances, not a chain of individual IOUs. Compare what each person paid with their assigned share and let the group total explain who gives and who receives.

Step by step

Clear process. Less friction.

Use these steps as a starting point, then adapt the timing and split to your group’s actual agreement.

  1. 01

    Total what each person paid

Add every valid payment made on behalf of the group, including deposits that became final costs.

  2. 02

    Total each person’s assigned share

Apply the correct participants and split method to every expense, then combine those shares.

  3. 03

    Calculate the net

Paid minus assigned share gives the balance. Positive receives; negative pays.

  4. 04

    Build a transfer plan

Match debtors and creditors until every net balance reaches zero, using the fewest practical transfers.

Worked example

Reading a running balance

If Riya paid ₹4,000 and her fair share is ₹2,500, she should receive ₹1,500. If Aman paid ₹1,000 against a ₹2,500 share, he owes ₹1,500.
